  • High School: Roy C. Start (2005)

  • College: University of Detroit Mercy

  • Current Profession: Sports Analyst & Co-Host of BCSN (Buckeye Cable Sports Network)

Sandi Brown is no stranger to the world of basketball. In 2009 she graduated from the University of Detroit Mercy where she played on a full ride scholarship to compete at the Division I level. She received her bachelor degree in Liberal Arts with a minor in Business Administration. After graduating, Sandi moved forward with her professional basketball career overseas in Germany. She would continue to press toward her dream of playing professional basketball in the WNBA with a tryout for the Tulsa Shock, along with several other opportunities.

After pursuing her basketball playing career Sandi then ventured into sales where she held management positions in Toledo and Atlanta. Shortly after she received the best news of her life: she was soon to be a mother of her first born son. She then decided that being around family was more important during this time and ventured back to Toledo, Ohio.

Sandi officially joined the corporate world and claimed a great career path as the Human Resource Manager for JCPenney in Toledo. She was responsible for up to 140 associates each year and specialized in Hiring, Training & Development, and Inclusive Diversity in the workplace.

All was well in HR except there was not much time for family. Sandi then decided to accept a position at Fifth Third Bank where she held the title, Personal Banker II. Her responsibilities included opening accounts, managing finances, loans, advisory, and administration.

Sandi ran across a business venture during her time in HR and Banking. After missing basketball and wanting to make a bigger impact on her community she decided to start the first women's professional basketball team in the city of Toledo, The Toledo Threat, where she now holds a full-time position as the team Owner. Sandi not only helps female athletes claim professional contracts Overseas/WNBA but she uses her platform to give back to the community: speaking to the youth, food distribution, summer camps, helping battered women, and many other areas that she volunteers her time.

Sandi views herself as an advocator for women's basketball and she uses her platform and experience to give back to the sport in any way she can. Sandi wears many hats: Team Owner, Local Sports Analyst, Community Leader, Advisor, Church Administrator, Coach, and PTO Member. In all that she does there's one hat that she values the most, Mother. She now has two children, Tyson and Montana.
