Ernesia Wright

Ernesia has been around basketball for over 20 years both playing and coaching. She has coached and trained players on the AAU, high school, and collegiate levels. Her 2-year professional career in Romania from 2006-2008 resulted in twice being named to the All-Star Team and Imports All-Defensive Team. Ernesia’s semi-professional career in the WBCBL (Women’s Blue Chip League) has spanned from the east to the west coast, playing two years for the Augusta Blaze (2006, 2009) and in Seattle with the Seattle Express and the Lakewood Panthers (2011-2013) In 2012 she was selected for the All-Army Women’s Basketball team.

Ernesia led the 2004 Augusta State University women’s basketball team to its best year in school history going 24-8 and culminating in an appearance at the NCAA Division II Elite 8 in St. Joseph, Missouri, where they finished with a national top 10 ranking.


While at ASU, Ernesia earned All-Conference and All-Region player honors as well as being named ASU’s Female Athlete of the Year in 2004. A scoring point guard, Ernesia finished her career with 12th in the at ASU all-time record books in scoring, 5th in assists and 4th in steals. She had a stellar career at Lucy C. Laney High School where she received numerous local, state and regional recognition and awards.

In addition to her playing experience, Ernesia has professional working experience as a Probation Officer, a Corrections Officer, and a public school Paraprofessional. She is currently serving as an Active Duty Captain in Savannah, Ga. 

Ernesia is proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.. In her spare time Ernesia enjoys spending time with her amazing husband Rocardo Wright and their beautiful daughters Zoey and Zia. She loves traveling and spending time with her family and friends. Additionally, Ernesia enjoys giving back to her community through community service as well as mentoring teenagers and young adults.  Ernesia continues to make a positive impact on others through her many accomplishments and her passion to be the change that she wants to see.

Laron Freeman II

Head Coach

  • Current Profession: Mental Health Professional

LaRon “Coach Ron” Freeman II comes to the team with several years of coaching and training
experience from all levels of basketball to include Middle School, High School, College, AAU, and

Some of his coaching highlights include 2 Middle School Championships with both seasons
being undefeated Westminster Schools of Augusta, National rankings AAU Southern Kings 15u, 2 final 4
appearances and 1 region title Westminster Schools of Augusta.  

His professional experience includes a 14-0 winning streak with the Georgia Kingz ABA, 2016 and 2017 Regional Champion with the Georgia Soul WBCBL Coach of the Year 2017 and 2017 National championship. Volunteer Coach Augusta University Women’s Basketball 2018/19. 

LaRon earned his Undergraduate degree at Morris Brown College and his graduate at Troy University. He is an Augusta native who enjoys traveling and spending time with his daughter Lauren.

Oliver Ottley

Assistant Coach

  • Hometown: Augusta, GA 

  • High School: Academy of Richmond County 

  • Bachelor of Arts in Sociology (Augusta State University, 2000)

  • Current Profession: Mental Health Professional

Oliver Ottley has been around basketball both playing and coaching for over 30 years. He was a standout player at the Academy of Richmond County and Augusta University. Coach O played for the Mens local professional team the Augusta Grooves in 2008. He began coaching in 2005 at Langford Middle School. 

Since 2009 he has been an assistant coach with Westminister boys basketball. His professional coaching experience started in 2015 with the Georgia Kings where he search as the Assistant and Head Coach. He was served as the assistant coach for the 2016 /2017 Regional & National Champions the Georgia Soul Women's Basketball.  

In 2018 he served as the head coach for the 76ers. Coach O is a mental health and substance abuse case manager at American Works. He has one beautiful daughter, Olivia Ottley who is 20 years old.

Michael Sweeper

VP of Operations/Assistant Coach

  • Hometown: Augusta, GA 

  • High School: Westside High School

  • Bachelor of Science in Business/Accounting (University of Phoenix, 2011)

  • Current Profession: Material Planner – Club Car/Ingersoll Rand

Michael Sweeper has been around the game of basketball as a coach for nearly 20 years. Beginning with East Augusta Middle School as an assistant coach for boys basketball in 2000. Michael’s professional experience began in 2006 as he served as Assistant Coach with Augusta Blaze and continued with the Georgia Soul in 2015 in the same role for the 2016 and 2017 seasons. Due to his dedication and diligence for the Georgia Soul, Michael was promoted to Vice President of Operations while continuing to serve as an assistant coach. 

Aside from coaching, Michael has a passion for community involvement. Volunteer efforts include Master’ Table Soup Kitchen, Under the Bridge Ministries, Stamp Out Hunger campaign and various other events. Michael also has a passion for helping the youth and participates in several activities catered toward the education and advancement of the youth of Augusta and surrounding areas. Michael began mentoring and teaching young men and women at Elim Baptist Church in 2000 and continues currently as a Youth Mentor at Elim Baptist Church. 

Michael currently works as a Material Planner in the Global Integrated Supply Chain Team at Club Car and has one beautiful daughter, Mikayla Sweeper.
